Sharjah Uses AI to Stop Fires Before They Spread

Sharjah, a city in the United Arab Emirates, is using new technology to make buildings safer. The city is adding artificial intelligence (AI) to help detect fires early. These smart systems can find signs of fire quickly and send alerts to emergency services. This helps stop fires before they get bigger and cause more damage.

To start this safety plan, the American University of Sharjah worked with the Sharjah Civil Defence to host a special event. It was a two-day meeting where experts talked about how AI can help prevent fires. They shared ideas and new tools that can make buildings safer by acting fast when something goes wrong.

One of the new tools is called the 'Aman' system. It watches over fire alarms in buildings and sends a message to the fire department if something seems wrong. This means help can arrive faster, even if no one is around to call. It also makes sure the fire alarms are always working properly.

Sharjah is also planning to use drones to help fight fires, especially in tall buildings. These drones can fly up very fast and spray water where it’s needed. They have special cameras to see where the fire is hottest, which helps firefighters do their jobs better and faster.

Along with smart systems and drones, Sharjah is also fixing buildings to make them safer. They are spending a lot of money to replace the outside walls of buildings with fire-resistant materials. So far, five buildings are finished, and they plan to upgrade 40 in total.
