UAE Envoy Commits to Building Major Hospital in Sukkur

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is making a significant commitment to healthcare in Pakistan by pledging to build a major hospital in Sukkur. Dr. Bakheet Atiq Al-Rumaithi, the UAE Consul General in Karachi, announced this initiative during a recent visit to the Sukkur District Council. This decision reflects the deep ties and cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan, especially in the healthcare sector.


During his visit, Dr. Al-Rumaithi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chairman of the Sukkur District Council, Syed Kumail Haider Shah. The MoU includes various areas of cooperation, such as scholarships for students and the construction of a monument called the "Sukkur Tower." This hospital project is a crucial part of the UAE's commitment to improving healthcare services in the region.


Dr. Al-Rumaithi expressed his affection for the people of Sukkur, emphasizing the strong bond between the two nations. He highlighted the importance of focusing on women's empowerment in Pakistan, noting the progress women have made in the UAE. The establishment of a women and children’s hospital in Sukkur is a significant step towards enhancing healthcare access for these vulnerable groups.


In addition to the hospital, the UAE envoy discussed the possibility of providing scholarships for ten deserving students from Sukkur. This initiative aims to promote higher education and support talented individuals in pursuing advanced studies in the UAE. Such educational opportunities can help foster a new generation of skilled professionals in Pakistan.


Dr. Al-Rumaithi also dismissed rumors about stricter visa policies for Pakistanis, encouraging people to visit UAE missions directly for visa applications. He pointed out that the largest UAE visa center in Asia is located in Karachi, making it easier for citizens to travel to the UAE for work or education.


Overall, this commitment from the UAE is a positive development for Sukkur and the surrounding areas. With plans for a major hospital and educational scholarships, the partnership between the UAE and Pakistan is set to grow stronger, benefiting the local community and enhancing healthcare and educational opportunities in the region.
