World Bank Praises UAE's Climate Leadership



The UAE's efforts in addressing global climate challenges have been commended by the World Bank. Safaa El-Kogali, Country Director for the Gulf Cooperation Countries at the World Bank, highlighted the strong partnership between the global institution and the UAE during the 7th Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum.


El-Kogali praised the UAE's commitment to climate action, noting the country's work with the World Bank to co-found the Global Climate Finance Centre at COP28. She stated that the World Bank Group is eager to further solidify this collaboration through a new Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE's Climate Finance Center.


The World Bank official emphasized that the global institution is actively working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on areas like poverty reduction, healthcare, education, clean energy, job creation, and climate action. By providing financial resources, technical expertise, and policy advice, the World Bank aims to support countries in tackling global challenges and building a more sustainable future.


El-Kogali commended the UAE's leadership in addressing climate change, stating that the country's efforts are essential in the global fight against this pressing issue. She noted that the World Bank recognizes the UAE's commitment to sustainability and is proud to partner with the nation in driving positive change.
