Pakistan and UAE Strengthen Economic Ties through High-Level Delegation Visit

 


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with a high level delegation from the United Arab Emirates  led by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade. This meeting demonstrates the strong commitment of both nations to deepen their economic partnership and explore new avenues of cooperation.


During the meeting Prime Minister Sharif expressed his gratitude to the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and the UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for their continued support and cooperation with Pakistan. He emphasized that the brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE are rooted in shared history and culture.


The Prime Minister highlighted the comprehensive economic partnership between the two countries, which includes sectors such as trade, energy, and investment. He noted that this partnership plays a crucial role in the development and prosperity of both nations. The visit of the UAE delegation further reinforces the UAE's commitment to increasing its investment footprint in Pakistan.


The UAE delegation expressed their satisfaction with the current investments of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group in Pakistan and conveyed their desire to expand their involvement in areas like maritime shipping, port operations, logistics, and customs digitalization. This aligns with the objectives of the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between various Pakistani ministries and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group.


The MoUs aim to enhance digital customs controls develop dedicated freight rail corridors upgrade Pakistan's maritime fleet and marine services and improve the country's international airports. These agreements are expected to contribute to the growth and development of Pakistan's economy.


The meeting was also attended by Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan Finance Minister Muhammad Auraangzeb, Maritime Affairs Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh and other senior government officials. This broad representation underscores the importance of the economic collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE.
