UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure organises session on zero bureaucracy in maritime sector

The UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure recently organized a session focused on implementing a policy of zero bureaucracy in the country's maritime sector. The session gathered stakeholders from the ministry as well as relevant companies and authorities to discuss ways of simplifying processes and cutting red tape. Eliminating unnecessary bureaucratic procedures aims to improve efficiency and facilitate business activities within the vital maritime industry.

One of the key challenges discussed was reducing paperwork and documentation requirements for activities like shipping, ports, and logistics. Adopting a "paperless" system through enhanced digitalization and automation of forms was proposed as a means to streamline approvals and permits. Such reforms would especially benefit private sector players by saving them time and costs associated with procedural delays and documentation handling.

The zero bureaucracy initiative is in line with the UAE's broader vision of developing world-leading infrastructure and promoting ease of doing business. By making the maritime sector more administratively seamless and user-friendly, the country hopes to bolster trade, investment and economic growth further. Feedback and recommendations raised at the session will help the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure devise effective regulatory reforms.
