IT Leadership Devs, IT Leaders Urged To Embrace Climate-Conscious Coding Practices
An executive from Salesforce is urging programmers to take climate change into account while creating their software.
According to Salesforce EVP and Chief Impact Officer Suzanne DiBianca, "Even something as seemingly disconnected from the environment, such as building or hosting a website and designing software, can have major climate consequences."
She explained that up until now, the emphasis has been on cutting down on energy use in data centres and switching electrical grids away from fossil fuels. Coders and designers are now prepared for a similar push in software, cryptographic proof of work, and AI processing power, the speaker concluded.
Few programmers know how to make their work more eco-friendly, she continued, despite the fact that many of them desire it.
